Richard Schwameis
Gynecologist and specialist in gynecologic oncology
Gynecology is my passion. The desire to become a gynecologist matured in me at an early age. My ambition is to cherish your health with competent, sensitive medical advice and treatment. Always according to the latest medical knowledge. Individually tailored to your specific needs. With as much time and attention as is necessary to ensure you receive the best possible treatment.
I completed my studies at the Medical University of Vienna. From the second stage of my studies I worked scientifically at the University Clinic for Clinical Pharmacology, where I also started my clinical career after finishing my studies. In addition to my education, I completed a doctoral degree in medical sciences with a focus on preclinical and clinical drug research.
This was followed by my training at the University Clinic for Gynecology in Vienna. During this time, I was also able to gain valuable clinical experience outside the University Hospital at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics under Prof. L. Hefler at the Ordensklinikum Linz.
After completing my residency, I returned to Vienna to complete my habilitation (obtaining the venia docendi) and to begin in-depth training in the field of gynecologic oncology (fellowship of the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology) under Prof. A. Reinthaller.
In the course of this training - which is very rare in Austria - I was allowed to spend two years at the largest gynecological tumor center in Europe, the "Essen-Mitte Clinics" in Germany as a senior physician under the direction of Prof. Andreas du Bois and Prof. Philipp Harter. After completing my training, I returned to Vienna to the University Hospital.
